Words and phrases in this lesson

| କାଲି | kali | tomorrow; yesterdayOne word for both. The verb's tense tells you which: future = tomorrow, past = yesterday. |

| ସକାଳ | sakala | morningସକାଳେ = in the morning. |

Examples
ଆଜି ରବିବାର, କାଲି ସୋମବାର।
aji rabibara, kali somabara.
Today is Sunday, tomorrow is Monday.
କାଲି ଶନିବାର ଥିଲା।
kali sanibara thila.
Yesterday was Saturday.
ମୁଁ କାଲି ଆସିବି।
mun kali asibi.
I'll come tomorrow.
ମୁଁ କାଲି ଆସିଥିଲି।
mun kali asithili.
I came yesterday.
ପରଶୁ ମୁଁ ପୁରୀ ଯିବି।
parasu mun Puri jibi.
I'll go to Puri the day after tomorrow.
ଆଜି ସଞ୍ଜରେ ଆସନ୍ତୁ।

Tip
କାଲି: tomorrow or yesterday?
Odia uses କାଲି for both tomorrow and yesterday. Listen to the verb: ମୁଁ କାଲି ଆସିବି (will come) = tomorrow; ମୁଁ କାଲି ଆସିଥିଲି (came) = yesterday. ପରଶୁ is the day after tomorrow. Add -ଏ or -ରେ for 'in/at': ସକାଳେ, ସଞ୍ଜରେ, ରାତିରେ.
